Private Credit Analyst | Selby Jennings

The Tone:
This is a permanent role at Selby Jennings, located in New York, NY. The company operates as a permanent capital investment platform. This role offers an Analyst the chance to gain meaningful responsibility and ownership over key workstreams, directly contributing to investment decisions and long-term value creation. Analysts will develop a true buy-side skill set by working closely with senior leadership across diverse investment strategies.

• Mission: Support investment, corporate development, and strategic initiatives by evaluating opportunities, conducting research, building financial models, and executing transactions across multiple asset classes.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Model: Build and maintain financial models to evaluate investment opportunities across private credit, structured finance, specialty finance, and equity investments.
• Analyze: Perform investment underwriting, due diligence, market analysis, and company research.
• Execute: Support the evaluation and execution of structured transactions, capital raises, and strategic initiatives.
• Research: Conduct thematic and industry research to identify emerging trends and investment opportunities.
• Communicate: Prepare investment memoranda, presentations, and materials for senior leadership and investment discussions.

The Must-Haves
• Background: 1-3 years of experience in investment banking.
• Experience: Strong financial modeling, valuation, and analytical capabilities with advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.
• Skills: Strong communication and presentation skills, intellectual curiosity, a strong work ethic, a willingness to learn new sectors, and a proactive mindset with high ownership.
• Bonus: Experience in investment banking with a focus on Financial Institutions Group (FIG) or Insurance Group is preferred.
