Markets – Quantitative Analysis, Summer Analyst | Citi
The Tone:
This is an internship at Citi, located in New York City. Citi is a global financial institution that provides a broad range of financial services, impacting clients and markets worldwide. This role is important because you will be contributing your knowledge to the trading floor, developing quantitative solutions and analytics that support diverse investment and transaction strategies across Markets. You will play a valuable role in building solutions for complex financial problems facing the trading businesses and clients.

• Mission: Design and develop quantitative solutions and analytics by combining financial engineering principles with machine learning and data science techniques.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Project: Be placed on a quantitative modeling desk and receive a summer project focused on quantitative methods for financial products and trading strategies.
• Presentation: Present the results of your summer project to senior leadership at the conclusion of the program.
• Competition: Participate in a business-wide Data Science competition throughout the summer.
• Shadowing: Shadow multiple quantitative trading and structuring desks to learn about market making and active risk monitoring and hedging.
• Learning: Attend weekly speaker events with product heads to gain a deeper understanding of the Markets industry.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Student pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Quantitative Finance, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, and/or a closely related field, graduating in Fall 2027 or Spring 2028.
• Experience: Experience designing, developing, and implementing artificial intelligence models and machine learning algorithms.
• Skills: Excellent mathematical skills, specifically in Data Analysis and Statistical Modeling; excellent programming skills in C++, Python, or Java; creativity in solving problems; intellectual curiosity.
• Bonus: Maintain a GPA of 3.3 or above; enthusiastic, quick-thinking, and able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously; confident, comfortable, and articulate in oral and written communication; a strong interest in Markets and determination to succeed in the field.
