Associate, Healthcare | B Capital
The Tone:
This is a pre-MBA Associate role at B Capital, located in San Francisco with a hybrid work model. B Capital invests globally in extraordinary founders and businesses shaping the future through technology across various stages and sectors, including healthcare. This role is crucial for the Healthcare AI Team, as the Associate will assist in the entire investment process, from sourcing to due diligence, for Series A to Growth Equity investments in healthtech and digital health.

• Mission: Assist in the end-to-end investment process for healthcare AI companies, from Series A to Growth Equity, by identifying and evaluating opportunities.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Market Research: Develop market research and investment theses to guide sourcing efforts for new healthcare investment opportunities.
• Trend Monitoring: Follow AI trends specifically within the healthcare sector to inform investment strategies.
• Deal Evaluation: Evaluate and assess the viability of investment materials received from potential portfolio companies.
• Due Diligence: Lead key pieces of diligence on investment opportunities, including audit, tax, legal, and complex financial modeling.
• Portfolio Support: Deliver high-touch support to portfolio companies and utilize firm networks to connect them with high-value customer targets.
The Must-Haves
• Background: An undergraduate degree in economics, data science, biology, biomedical engineering, engineering with biology, biochemistry, or other relevant fields. A background in finance and familiarity with AI are required.
• Experience: 1-3+ years of relevant work experience, such as investment banking on a healthcare team or a finance or business development role within an operating company.
• Skills: Excellent quantitative and qualitative analytical skills, detailed financial modeling (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow statements, valuation comps), and the ability to distill ideas and insights into clean, digestible formats.
• Bonus: Prior venture capital or private equity investing experience, exposure to core venture capital “math” skills (cap table, returns modeling), familiarity with standard venture terms and concepts, an entrepreneurial spirit, and exceptional interpersonal skills with strong business judgment and work ethic.
