Analyst or Associate – Capstone Partners’ Financial Advisory Services, SSIB | Huntington National Bank

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Capstone Partners, a subsidiary of Huntington National Bank, located in Chicago, Boston, or Dallas. Capstone Partners operates as one of the largest and most active investment banking firms in the U.S., advising middle-market companies with a fully integrated range of investment banking and financial advisory services. This role supports the rapidly growing Special Situations Investment Banking (SSIB) group, which provides critical investment banking and financial advisory services in complex out-of-court and Chapter 11 reorganization situations. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in delivering essential financial advisory services for distressed M&A, private financings, liability management exercises, and restructurings.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Financial Modeling: Prepare, analyze, and develop comprehensive financial models for historical and projected financial information, including three-statement models, 13-week cash flow projections, debt capacity analyses, merger models, and valuation analyses.
• Transaction Execution: Execute M&A, capital raise, and liability management exercise/restructuring transactions, diligently managing day-to-day process activities and maintaining strict deadlines.
• Client & Marketing Document Preparation: Organize and prepare confidential information memoranda, management presentations, marketing pitches, and other presentations for effective client and counterparty interactions.
• Due Diligence Leadership: Lead the maintenance and execution of counterparty diligence activities for transactions, ensuring thoroughness and accuracy in information gathering.
• Business Development & Team Mentorship: Build and maintain relationships with clients, prospective clients, and professional advisors, support new business development, and supervise and mentor other junior professionals.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree, preferably in accounting, finance, or a related discipline.
• Experience: Analyst requires 1+ years of investment banking experience, with a preference for special situations/corporate restructuring; Associate requires 3+ years of investment banking experience, including at least 2 years in special situation/corporate restructuring.
• Skills: Excellent analytical skills, proficiency in developing and maintaining financial models using Excel, and strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Bonus: FINRA Series 79 and 63 licenses, strong knowledge and practical experience with special situations, restructuring, and bankruptcy transactions, experience with Pitchbook and CapIQ, and willingness to travel.
