Investment Banking Associate – Equity Capital Markets | Societe Generale
The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Societe Generale, located in Menlo Park, CA. Societe Generale is a global financial institution committed to its values of commitment, responsibility, team spirit, and innovation. The Equity Capital Markets (ECM) department is a core product of SG’s Investment Banking Division, responsible for originating and executing all ECM transactions for SG Americas, including equity and equity-linked new issues, as well as equity private placements. This Associate position plays a central and critical role in driving both deal execution and client engagement, serving as a key contributor to transaction delivery, origination efforts, and providing real-time market intelligence to senior bankers and clients across a fully integrated global platform.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Deal Execution & Origination: Actively work on the origination and execution of various ECM transactions, encompassing IPOs, follow-ons, convertibles, ATMs, share repurchases, and equity private placements across all industry sectors.
• Client & Stakeholder Management: Manage client-facing projects by closely liaising with clients, lawyers, other banks, sales and trading professionals, and various team members from across the bank, ensuring seamless communication and coordination.
• Financial Analysis & Strategy: Organize and analyze sophisticated financial data to be used in the development of client proposals and strategic plans, while also conducting economic and financial research to evaluate company performance against industry and market trends.
• Presentation & Proposal Development: Prepare comprehensive written recommendations, detailed valuation materials, and statistical exhibits required for pitch books, live deals, and client advisory initiatives.
• Team Leadership & Internal Collaboration: Participate in the supervision and training of junior resources within the team, and effectively liaise with coverage and product groups to prepare materials for client meetings and fulfill ad-hoc requests.
The Must-Haves
• Background: This role requires a professional with a minimum of 2-3 years of relevant experience in investment banking, equity capital markets, equity private placements, or a related financial services role, demonstrating core domain knowledge in capital markets.
• Experience: Candidates should have hands-on experience working with Bloomberg and other market data platforms, in addition to advanced expertise in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. Strong preference is given to candidates holding SIE, Series 79, and Series 63 licenses.
• Skills: Possess strong proficiency in financial analysis and the interpretation of capital markets data, excellent presentation and communication skills (both written and oral), a strong attention to detail and quality control, and the capacity to understand and analyze complex financial structures and securities.
• Bonus: Prior exposure to ECM transactions or technology sector banking is strongly preferred.
