Accounting Intern | Ducommun Incorporated
The Tone:
This is an Accounting Intern position at Ducommun Incorporated, located in Joplin, MO. Founded in 1849, Ducommun is a global provider of innovative manufacturing solutions, specializing in electronic and structural systems for customers in the aerospace, defense, and industrial markets. As an Accounting Intern, you will play a key role in supporting accounting transactions related to general and cost accounting activities, ensuring timely and accurate compliance with company policy and Sarbanes Oxley requirements.

What You’ll Actually Do
• General Ledger Management: Reconcile various general ledger accounts to supporting details, including accounts receivable (AR), accounts payable (AP), and petty cash.
• Transaction Processing: Process all supplier and customer invoices and credits, encompassing both routine daily transactions and any miscellaneous or special invoices and credits as required.
• Financial Reporting and Analysis: Prepare and reconcile monthly reports for various general accounting activities, such as sales, bookings, backlog, and fixed assets, and assist in confirming costs by collecting and interpreting data.
• Audit and Compliance Support: Prepare necessary documentation for both internal and external audits of accounts receivable and/or accounts payable, ensuring compliance with financial and Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) requirements.
• Payroll and KPI Assistance: Assist the payroll department with preparing check remittances for weekly accruals and withholdings, and reconcile and update weekly Key Performance Indicator (KPI) information accurately.
• Process Improvement & Inventory Audit: Recommend actions by analyzing and interpreting data and make comparative analyses; study proposed changes in methods and materials, and work with material and operation functions to audit inventory processes, including costing and cycle counts.
The Must-Haves
• Background: A student actively pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
• Experience: Advanced proficiency in computer applications, including e-mail, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access, is required for this role.
• Skills: Strong analytical ability for interpreting data and making comparative analyses; excellent written and verbal communication skills to interact with people at all levels and functions; robust computational skills to conceptualize and understand technical reports and data; excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and detail efficiently; demonstrated problem-solving ability involving many variables.
