The Tone:
This is a full-time, intermediate-level Investment Banking Analyst position at Citi, located in San Francisco, California, with a focus on Technology Mergers & Acquisitions. Citi, through its Institutional Banking division, is committed to assisting clients in navigating complex financial landscapes, including raising essential funds in the capital markets and providing strategic advisory services. This comprehensive support spans crucial financial transactions such as mergers, acquisitions, and various other strategic deals. In this role, the Analyst acts as a vital intermediary in trading for clients, playing a pivotal part in formulating effective investment strategies and actively raising capital. The overarching objective is to serve as a strategic advisor, directly influencing client success and upholding the firm’s robust reputation.

• Team: Investment Banking team, working closely with senior CIB officers within the broader Institutional Banking group.
• Mission: Act as a strategic advisor to clients by formulating investment strategies and raising capital for them.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Client Teamwork: Work closely with senior Corporate & Investment Bank (CIB) officers and professionals, participating as the junior member of the Investment Banking team in particular client transactions, projects, or assignments.
• Data Analysis & Strategy: Organize and thoroughly analyze sophisticated financial data that forms the basis for client proposals and strategic plans.
• Deal Material Preparation: Prepare comprehensive written recommendations, detailed valuation materials, and statistical exhibits essential for both pitches to clients and ongoing live deals.
• Market & Performance Research: Conduct in-depth economic and financial research, then evaluate a company’s financial performance against overall industry benchmarks and market trends.
• Financial Modeling Expertise: Build and refine complex financial models specifically for valuation purposes to support client advisory and transaction analysis.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Finance or closely related areas of Business Administration, or equivalent experience.
• Experience: 1-5 years of relevant experience.
• Skills: Hold Series 79 and 63 licenses; demonstrate clear and concise written and verbal communication skills; possess the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a rapidly changing environment.
