Transactions, Associate | Accordion

The Tone:
This is a hybrid role at Accordion, located in NYC or Dallas. Accordion is a 1,600+ person financial consulting firm focused on serving private equity as a value creation partner, helping clients drive value through data, technology, and AI, supporting the office of the CFO. This Associate role is vital for executing M&A projects, bringing a methodical and action-oriented approach to identify and create value for clients through diligence, merger planning, and carve-out support.

• Mission: This person supports and leads M&A projects, focused on the CFO agenda and Finance function, to drive value creation for private equity buyers and sellers.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Support: Support client teams and larger, more complex projects by planning and executing operational diligence, merger integration, and carve-out initiatives, including Day 1 readiness.
• Manage: Develop and operationalize Transitional Service Agreements (TSAs), create 100-day plans, identify synergies, and build financial models, alongside managing program and workstream-level projects.
• Facilitate: Lead due diligence meetings focused on uncovering operational strategy, technology strategy, organizational structures, current business processes, and enabling technology.
• Develop: Create presentations for client proposals and thought leadership materials, ensuring alignment with client strategy and investment priorities.
• Enhance: Drive the development and continuous improvement of Accordion’s M&A methodologies for diligence, merger integration, and carve-outs, as well as approaches to client delivery.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Professional experience working in operational/commercial diligence, merger integration, carve-outs, business transformation, and change management.
• Experience: Minimum of 2+ years of professional experience; IMO / SMO / PMO experience required; consulting firm or industry experience preferred.
• Skills: Outstanding written and verbal communication, superior problem-solving and analytical abilities to translate disparate data into meaningful insights, and functional expertise in at least two areas such as Finance & Accounting, Information Technology, Human Resources, Supply Chain, or Commercial / Sales & Marketing.
• Bonus: Private industry experience, prior experience serving interim or permanent finance roles (i.e., VP Finance, Controller, or CFO).
