Intern Undergraduate – Cost Accountant | Terumo Blood and Cell Technologies

The Tone:
This is an undergraduate internship at Terumo Blood and Cell Technologies, located in Lakewood, Colorado. The company makes medical devices and related products that are used to collect, separate, manufacture, and process various components of blood and cells, impacting patients’ lives globally. This role supports financial analysis, improves cost visibility, and contributes to data-driven decision-making, helping the organization achieve efficiency and savings within the healthcare industry.

The TL;DR

What You’ll Actually Do
• Project Execution: Perform planned work to accomplish project goals, gaining experience with cost accounting practices, financial systems, and company policies.
• Data Analysis: Assist with collecting, analyzing, and interpreting cost data to support operational and financial reporting needs.
• Reporting Support: Support preparation of cost reports, variance analyses, and summaries to identify trends, discrepancies, and improvement opportunities.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with cross-functional teams such as operations, procurement, and finance to gather information and clarify cost-related data.
• Process Improvement: Assist in identifying process improvements that enhance cost tracking accuracy and reporting efficiency.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related field, with foundational knowledge of accounting principles, including cost accounting concepts.
• Experience: No prior full-time experience required.
• Skills: Analytical mindset with the ability to evaluate data, proficiency in Microsoft Excel, strong attention to detail and organizational skills, and effective communication skills.
• Bonus: Preferred Junior or Senior standing, and general familiarity with financial systems or ERP platforms.
