This role supports critical financial and operational functions for the Staten Island Railway, ensuring accurate employee compensation, regulatory compliance, and efficient vendor payments. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to essential financial reporting and timekeeping processes within a vital public transportation entity.

• Mission: This intern will support financial reporting, payroll processing, and absence control functions to ensure operational efficiency and compliance.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, Power BI
What You’ll Actually Do
• Streamline Data Management: Organize and maintain digital archives for payroll, absence documentation, and financial records, including tracking invoices and updating financial databases and SharePoint.
• Support Financial Operations: Assist with financial reconciliation, data extraction for labor reporting, monitoring procurement, and preparing vendor correspondence, contributing to accurate payments and reporting.
• Enhance Compliance & Reporting: Support payroll audit preparation, FMLA data compilation, and Absence Control Policy tracking, generating reports for attendance analysis and compliance purposes.
• Develop Analytical Tools: Create new programs for visual financial analysis and timekeeping insights, specifically to identify absence patterns and mitigate fraud, aiming to automate manual processes and reduce operational costs.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Student. Matriculated in an undergraduate program with at least a 2.5 GPA or a graduate program with at least a 2.8 GPA, with a major in Data Analytics/Analysis, Business Administration/Management, Accounting, Finance, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Experience: Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Skills: Organizational, analytical, and communication skills; keen eye for detail; ability to work independently while being an active team player; ability to work well under pressure and prioritize tasks effectively.
