Equity Research Associate – Industrials / Machinery / E&C | Truist
The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Truist, located in New York, NY. Truist is a financial services organization with established Banking sectors and Capital Markets operations. This position is critical for delivering expert insights through proprietary equity research in the Industrials, Machinery, and E&C sectors, directly influencing institutional investment decisions and supporting capital markets transactions. The role is integral to demonstrating the firm’s sector expertise to its clients.

• Mission: Publish proprietary equity research and provide industry expertise for capital markets equity transactions to institutional clients.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Research Publication: Create and publish proprietary equity research content for institutional buy-side clients, including stock recommendations (Buy, Hold, Sell).
• Capital Markets Support: Conduct due diligence and provide industry expertise for capital markets equity transactions, including involvement with C-level corporate client relationships.
• Client Access & Events: Initiate C-suite corporate access resources for institutional equity clients, such as non-deal roadshows, conferences, field trips, bus tours, and conference calls.
• Financial Modeling & Analysis: Build comprehensive financial models at the industry and company level, including market, market share, revenue, EPS, and cash flow forecasts, and conduct valuation analyses.
• Independent Research: Conduct independent industry assessments, company-specific research reports, formulate investment ideas, and write draft research commentary.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree with mastery of financial and accounting concepts essential for creating in-depth financial models.
• Experience: Minimum of 5 years of related work experience or academic study beyond a BA/BS degree.
• Skills: Advanced written and oral communication skills, strong analytical capabilities, strong sales skills, and required FINRA licenses including the SIE, the 7 Top Off (or Series 7 for those licensed prior to October 2019), Series 63, Series 87, and either the Series 86 or a FINRA waiver for those who have completed CFA II.
• Bonus: Advanced Degree and/or CFA Designation, 6+ years of related work experience, and experience in mentoring and coaching.
