Customer Service / Lot Attendant | U-Haul
The Tone:
This is an in-person customer service role at U-Haul. U-Haul is a leading provider in the do-it-yourself moving and storage industry, dedicated to supporting individuals and families on their diverse journeys. This position is crucial for delivering U-Haul’s exceptional service, ensuring customers receive all the necessary assistance and have access to well-maintained, reliable equipment for their needs. It plays a direct role in creating positive customer experiences and upholding operational standards.

• Mission: This person owns the responsibility of delivering outstanding customer service, inspecting and maintaining rental equipment, and efficiently managing the dispatch and return process to ensure customer satisfaction and operational readiness.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Customer Support: Provide comprehensive assistance to customers, both inside and outside a U-Haul center, regarding various U-Haul products and services, while educating them on suitable options.
• Rental Management: Utilize smartphone-based U-Scan technology to manage rental transactions, including dispatching equipment, preparing rental invoices, and processing equipment returned from customers.
• Equipment Handling: Maneuver and securely hook up U-Haul trucks and trailers for customers, ensuring proper attachment and safe operation.
• Lot Maintenance: Conduct thorough cleaning and inspection of equipment on the lot, including verifying fluid levels, to maintain readiness and presentation standards.
• Specialized Services: Install hitches and perform trailer wiring for customer vehicles, ensuring proper functionality and adherence to safety guidelines.
The Must-Haves
• Background: High school diploma or equivalent, with a foundational understanding of customer service principles.
• Experience: Requires a valid driver’s license and the ability to maintain a good driving record.
• Skills: Strong customer engagement, basic mechanical aptitude for equipment inspection and maintenance, attention to detail for inventory and readiness checks, and proficiency with smartphone-based technology.
