Junior Cybersecurity Analyst | Claris Consulting Inc.

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Claris Consulting Inc., located in Honolulu, HI, with a hybrid work arrangement that allows some work from home. Claris Consulting Inc. is a professional services firm dedicated to strengthening clients’ digital resilience through technology and cybersecurity solutions. This role is crucial for assisting in the front-line defense against cyber threats, ensuring that critical systems and data remain protected. The Junior Cybersecurity Analyst will contribute directly to client security posture by supporting assessments, investigations, and the implementation of safeguards.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Monitoring: Assist in monitoring security alerts, reviewing logs, and identifying potential threats across applications, networks, and endpoints.
• Assessments & Investigations: Support vulnerability assessments and contribute to incident investigations under guidance from senior team members.
• Documentation & Reporting: Document findings clearly and prepare reports for both internal stakeholders and external clients.
• Control Implementation: Help implement security controls and participate in malware and threat analysis efforts.
• Collaboration & Improvement: Collaborate with senior team members to improve overall security posture and maintain essential security documentation.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Foundational skills in Cybersecurity and Analytical Skills, including the ability to interpret security data and apply critical thinking to identify risks. A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience, is preferred.
• Experience: Practical experience supporting threat investigation efforts and understanding basic malware behavior. Industry certifications such as Security+, CySA+, or similar entry-level credentials are preferred.
• Skills: Strong understanding of Network Security concepts including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention, secure network protocols, and basic network architecture. Awareness of common Application Security vulnerabilities, secure coding principles, and basic familiarity with security testing tools.
• Bonus: Knowledge of common security frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001), familiarity with SIEM tools, strong written and verbal communication abilities, and keen attention to detail. The ability to work collaboratively, manage multiple tasks, maintain confidentiality, and adhere to ethical and regulatory requirements.
