This role supports ByteDance’s global business and intelligent operations ecosystem by leveraging advanced analytics, AI systems, and scalable data workflows. As an intern, you will engage in impactful short-term projects, gaining professional real-world experience and practical skills while contributing to improved operational efficiency and intelligent decision-making across large-scale global products.

• Team: The GMPT-BI-DCC Data Science team, supporting ByteDance’s global business and intelligent operations ecosystem.
• Mission: Build and optimize data, analytics, and AI solutions to improve operational efficiency and enable intelligent decision-making for global products.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Optimization: Build and optimize data workflows, analytics pipelines, and operational monitoring systems to improve efficiency and scalability for complex business and operational scenarios.
• AI Implementation: Explore and implement Agent-based AI workflows, prompt engineering strategies, and LLM-powered analytics solutions to support intelligent business operations and data-driven decision-making.
• Project Participation: Participate in end-to-end AI operational projects, covering data collection, annotation workflow optimization, model evaluation, experimentation, and deployment support.
• Data Analysis: Analyze operational and quality metrics to identify trends, root causes, and optimization opportunities across AI/data pipelines.
• Collaboration: Collaborate cross-functionally with Data Scientists, Product Managers, Engineering, Operations, and global stakeholders in an English-speaking environment.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
• Experience: Demonstrated proficiency in SQL. Experience applying Python or R for data analysis, automation, or modeling tasks.
• Skills: Familiarity with Excel, data analytics workflows, and experience with large-scale data processing tools such as Hive or Spark. Possess strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to collaborate effectively in cross-functional environments.
• Bonus: Prior internship or project experience in data science, analytics, AI operations, business intelligence, or technical program/project management. Familiarity with machine learning concepts, LLMs, prompt engineering, Agent workflows, or AI evaluation methodologies. Experience with experimentation, operational analytics, quality measurement, or annotation/labeling workflows is also a plus. The ability to work at least 4 days per week for 3+ months is preferred.
