Creative Media Assistant (Student Employee) | Coastal Carolina University

The Tone:
This is a student employee position at Coastal Carolina University, located in Conway, SC. This role supports the Student-Athlete Academic Services (SAAS) department by creating engaging digital content and managing its social media presence. The Creative Media Assistant plays a key part in highlighting student-athlete experiences, promoting department initiatives, and boosting engagement across digital platforms. This position offers hands-on experience and helps build a professional portfolio.

• Pay: $8.00 – $10.00 hourly
• Team: Student-Athlete Academic Services (SAAS), reports to Lindsay Normile
• Mission: Create engaging digital content and manage social media to promote student-athlete experiences and department initiatives, increasing engagement across platforms.
• Tech Stack: Instagram, X, Canva, CapCut

What You’ll Actually Do
• Content Creation: Capture photos and videos, record interviews, and assist in creating engaging short-form digital content for social media campaigns.
• Media Organization: Organize and maintain a media file library for current and future departmental use.
• Social Media Management: Support consistent activity on department social media platforms and help develop content strategies to increase student engagement and following.
• Promotional Design: Assist with the creation and design of semesterly SAAS newsletters and update office slideshow displays with relevant announcements.
• Professional Conduct: Maintain professionalism, reliability, punctuality, and strong communication skills while representing SAAS and completing projects on time.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Must be an active CCU student with an interest in social media, content creation, sports media, marketing, or digital communications.
• Experience: Familiarity with Instagram, X, and basic content creation platforms such as Canva and CapCut.
• Skills: Strong communication, organization, and creativity skills, coupled with the ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Bonus: Experience managing social media accounts, creating digital content, photography, videography, graphic design, or video editing.
