Internship – Software Test – Fall 2026 | Firefly Aerospace

The Tone:
This is an Internship at Firefly Aerospace, located in North Austin, Texas. Firefly Aerospace is an end-to-end responsive space transportation company building launch vehicles, lunar landers, and orbital vehicles. This role is crucial for executing software verification tests and developing automated scripts to ensure the quality and readiness of flight software for spacecraft and launch vehicle programs. Your contributions will directly support critical space missions.

The TL;DR

• Mission: This person will execute software verification tests and develop automated scripts to ensure software quality for space missions.
• Tech Stack: C++, Python, LabVIEW, source code Version Control tools

What You’ll Actually Do
• Verification: Execute software verification tests for flight software on spacecraft and launch vehicle programs.
• Automation: Develop and run automated test scripts in SIL, PIL, and HIL test environments.
• Documentation: Document test results, track defects, and support root cause investigations.
• Infrastructure: Assist in test infrastructure setup, including hardware integration and simulator configuration.
• Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to ensure software quality and mission readiness.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Enrollment or a recent graduate in a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree program in Aerospace Engineering, Computer Sciences, Software Engineering, or a related field. Possesses knowledge in a specific software engineering or aerospace engineering area such as orbital mechanics, trajectory analysis, control theory, filtering, machine learning, artificial intelligence, database technologies, networking, or embedded software.
• Experience: Software development in C++, Python, or LabVIEW.
• Skills: Good verbal and written communication skills, ability to prioritize and execute assigned tasks on time, and good collaboration skills to work closely with others.
• Bonus: Experience with source code Version Control tools, participation in a related extracurricular university club or laboratory.
