The Tone:
This is a contract role with Insight Global for a client operating in the animal health diagnostics industry. The client’s Machine Intelligence team in R&D develops machine learning solutions that directly impact the capabilities of hematology analyzers. This entry-level position is crucial for building foundational skills in applied machine learning, contributing to the development of cutting-edge diagnostic tools that enhance animal health.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Develop: Create classification and clustering models on tabular data to support hematology analyzer capabilities.
• Contribute: Assist with model development, evaluation, and iteration under the guidance of a senior data scientist.
• Partner: Collaborate with senior team members to understand requirements, explore data, and validate model performance.
• Document: Clearly record your work so it can be reviewed, reproduced, and built upon by the team.
• Deploy: Implement your machine learning solutions onto edge hardware in analyzer platforms.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field such as statistics, computer science, math, or engineering. This is an entry-level position.
• Experience: 0-2 years applying machine learning to real-world problems, including internships, research, or coursework projects.
• Skills: Strong working knowledge of Python and common data science libraries (pandas, scikit-learn, NumPy), solid foundation in statistics, machine learning, and algorithms, demonstrated understanding of classification and clustering methods for tabular data (application and evaluation), curiosity about data, and ability to communicate analyses and results clearly.
• Bonus: An advanced degree in a relevant field is a plus.
