Accounting Clerk – Disbursements | Biehl

The Tone:
This is an entry-level, hybrid role at Biehl, a company involved in cargo operations and vessel activity. This position is vital for providing essential general accounting, clerical, and administrative support within the DA accounting department. The chosen candidate will play a key part in ensuring the accuracy and timely processing of financial transactions, contributing directly to the company’s operational efficiency.

• Mission: To provide comprehensive general accounting, clerical, and administrative support within the DA accounting department.
• Tech Stack: Great Plains, Excel, general ledger or accounts payable/receivable systems

What You’ll Actually Do
• Invoice Management: Maintain and process vendor invoices upon receipt.
• Fund Coding: Accurately code funds received related to cargo operations and vessel activity.
• Disbursement Processing: Process disbursements following billing instructions from Operations.
• Financial Reporting: Prepare and record monthly entries, along with standard and ad-hoc reports.
• A/P & A/R Functions: Perform essential payables and receivables functions, meeting all deadlines.

The Must-Haves
• Background: High school diploma or GED required; provides general accounting, clerical, and administrative support.
• Experience: 2+ years of experience in an accounting, accounts payable, or general office environment, with familiarity with general ledger or accounts payable/receivable systems.
• Skills: Strong attention to detail, highly organized, appreciation for accuracy, ability to multi-task and manage changing priorities, works effectively individually and as part of a team, intermediate Excel skills.
• Bonus: Experience with Great Plains, ability to train and coach others in similar areas of responsibility.
