The Tone:
This is an engaging internship program offered by the Young Kim for Congress campaign, designed for high school and college students to gain invaluable firsthand experience within a dynamic and impactful political environment. The program is based in Mission Viejo, CA, with practical hybrid and remote options providing flexible shifts to accommodate student schedules. This internship is specifically structured to foster personal growth, significantly boosting confidence in public speaking and enhancing overall communication skills critical for any future career path. Our dedicated team is committed to thoroughly supporting interns as they navigate and develop essential professional skills, all while actively learning about the intricacies of congressional elections, vital voter engagement strategies, and the broader electoral process. Interns are also eligible to earn academic credit, accumulate valuable service hours, and receive a strong letter of recommendation directly from a Member of Congress, underscoring their contributions.

• Mission: To actively contribute to essential campaign management activities, conduct impactful community outreach efforts, and engage directly with constituents to increase voter engagement and support the electoral process of a congressional campaign.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Campaign Operations Support: Provide crucial assistance in the meticulous day-to-day operations of the political campaign, directly supporting and helping to implement campaign strategies and initiatives.
• Community and Voter Engagement: Actively participate in various community outreach efforts and engage directly with a diverse range of voters to significantly increase overall voter engagement and participation in the electoral process.
• Event Coordination and Execution: Lend essential support for a variety of campaign events, which includes assisting with setup, coordination, and ensuring their smooth and successful execution.
• Communications Management: Manage and coordinate campaign communications, involving tasks such as assisting with message development and outreach to various stakeholders and the public.
• Direct Voter Canvassing: Undertake daily tasks involving direct voter contact, specifically through canvassing efforts to inform, persuade, and mobilize voters on behalf of the campaign.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently enrolled as a high school or college student, possessing a keen interest and eagerness to learn comprehensively about congressional elections, effective voter engagement techniques, and the intricate workings of the electoral process.
• Experience: Demonstrate the capability to effectively assist in the multifaceted day-to-day operations of a political campaign, including providing direct support for the development and execution of campaign strategies.
• Skills: Exhibit strong verbal communication skills, which are absolutely essential for clearly and persuasively communicating with team members, engaging voters, and interacting with various community stakeholders.
• Bonus: Possess a genuine enthusiasm for government and civic engagement, complemented by a proactive and highly adaptable attitude, along with a strong willingness to learn new responsibilities and contribute meaningfully to the campaign’s objectives.
