CAD Detailer – Entry Level | Seating Solutions
The Tone:
This is an entry-level position at Seating Solutions, a division of InProduction. The company is the largest provider of temporary seating, staging, structures, and scenic production for the United States events industry. This role is crucial for creating and designing solutions for high-profile nationwide events. The CAD Detailer ensures accurate drawings are provided to sales staff, customers, building officials, and field technicians, contributing to the company’s sustained growth and success.

• Mission: To produce clear, accurate technical drawings and basic 3D models for temporary event infrastructure, supporting sales, project execution, and field operations.
• Tech Stack: VectorWorks, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Microsoft Office, file sharing systems
What You’ll Actually Do
• Drafting: Draft clear and accurate 2D drawings for standard scenic flats, steps, decks, deck plugs, pipe-and-base layouts, and basic stage layout plans.
• Support: Convert sketches, notes, or existing drawings provided by Project Managers and Production Designers into usable drafting packages.
• Modeling: Create basic 3D models of simple scenic elements from 2D drawings using SketchUp, VectorWorks, or AutoCAD to aid team visualization and coordination.
• Coordination: Assist in preparing drawing sets for fabrication and onsite installation, collaborating with fabrication teams to ensure the accuracy and clarity of construction drawings.
• Updates & Organization: Make drawing updates based on redlines and field feedback, and organize and maintain digital project files, including version tracking and drawing logs.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Early Career. High school diploma or equivalent is required. An Associate’s degree, technical certificate, or formal CAD training is preferred.
• Experience: Proficiency in 2D drafting using VectorWorks and AutoCAD is necessary. Internship or experience in live events, scenic fabrication, or theatrical production is a plus.
• Skills: Proficiency in 2D drafting using VectorWorks and AutoCAD; Familiarity with SketchUp for visualizing basic scenic geometry; Understanding of standard scenic construction components and stage layouts; Attention to detail and ability to follow written/verbal instructions; Organizational skills for managing multiple projects and drawing versions.
• Bonus: Familiarity with Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop.
