Sustainability Solutions Coordinator | Javits Center
The Tone:
This is an entry-level role at the Javits Center, located on Manhattan’s West Side in New York, NY. The Javits Center is a global convention center, acclaimed for hosting leading conventions, trade shows, and special events that generate billions in annual economic activity and support thousands of jobs for the region. With its recently completed state-of-the-art expansion, the facility features extensive exhibition and meeting spaces, a rooftop pavilion, and comprehensive services. This role is crucial for advancing sustainability across this prominent venue, providing essential operational, analytical, and administrative support to implement and communicate initiatives that reflect the Javits Center’s commitment to environmental leadership.

• Mission: This person advances sustainability initiatives across the Javits Center by providing operational, analytical, and administrative support, ensuring successful implementation and communication of environmental goals.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Program Implementation: Support the active implementation and coordination of sustainability initiatives and projects across the entire Javits Center organization, ensuring they align with established goals.
• Operational & Project Support: Assist the sustainability team with day-to-day operations, detailed project coordination, and comprehensive administrative support necessary for all ongoing sustainability programs.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Coordinate proactively with various internal departments, external vendors, strategic partners, and community stakeholders to facilitate sustainability-related initiatives and events.
• Data Collection & Reporting: Collect, organize, and meticulously maintain sustainability-related operational and performance data, then assist with tracking metrics and compiling information for internal updates, reports, and presentations.
• Engagement & Education: Plan and execute sustainability campaigns, employee engagement activities, and educational efforts, while also assisting in organizing meetings, trainings, workshops, and volunteer opportunities.
The Must-Haves
• Background: A Bachelor’s degree is preferred in fields such as Sustainability, Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, Business, Communications, Operations, or a closely related discipline.
• Experience: Possess 1–3 years of relevant professional experience specifically in sustainability, operations, project coordination, or administration.
• Skills: Demonstrate strong organizational and project coordination abilities with keen attention to detail; exhibit excellent written and verbal communication skills; and be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. The role requires the ability to effectively manage multiple projects, work collaboratively across diverse teams, and engage with a variety of stakeholders.
