The Tone:

This role is central to InProduction’s operations, as it involves creating accurate technical drawings essential for sales, customer approvals, regulatory compliance, and field technician execution. What You’ll Actually Do
• Drafting: Draft clear, accurate 2D drawings for standard scenic flats, steps, decks, deck plugs, pipe-and-base layouts, and basic stage layout plans.
• Support: Convert sketches, notes, or existing drawings into usable drafting packages to support Project Managers and Production Designers.
• Modeling: Create basic 3D models of simple scenic elements from 2D drawings for team visualization and coordination.
• Preparation: Assist in preparing drawing sets for fabrication and onsite installation, ensuring accuracy and clarity for fabrication teams.
• Updates: Make drawing updates based on redlines and feedback received from the field.

The Must-Haves
• Background: High school diploma or equivalent is required, with an Associate’s degree, technical certificate, or formal CAD training preferred. An internship or experience in live events, scenic fabrication, or theatrical production is a plus.
• Experience: This is an entry-level role; candidates should possess an understanding of standard scenic construction components and stage layouts.
• Skills: Proficiency in 2D drafting using VectorWorks and AutoCAD, familiarity with SketchUp for basic scenic geometry, attention to detail, ability to follow instructions, organizational skills for project management, and comfort with a collaborative environment.
• Bonus: Familiarity with Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop, and a willingness to learn and grow through training and mentorship.
