CAD Detailer | Seating Solutions

The Tone:
This is an early career position at Seating Solutions, an integral part of the InProduction team. InProduction has evolved to become the largest provider of temporary seating, staging, structures, and scenic production for the United States events industry, combining the expertise of leading companies. This role is central to creating and designing solutions for high-profile nationwide events, directly contributing to the company’s sustained growth and success by providing essential drawings and designs.

• Mission: To provide accurate 2D drawings and basic 3D models for sales staff, building officials, and field technicians to support event production for client partners.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Drawing Creation: Draft clear, accurate 2D drawings for standard scenic flats, steps, decks, pipe-and-base layouts, and basic stage plans using specified software.
• Design Support: Convert sketches, notes, or existing drawings into usable drafting packages to support Project Managers and Production Designers.
• 3D Modeling: Create basic 3D models of simple scenic elements from 2D drawings using SketchUp, VectorWorks, or AutoCAD for team visualization and coordination.
• Documentation & Coordination: Prepare drawing sets for fabrication and onsite installation, coordinating with fabrication teams to ensure accuracy and clarity of construction drawings.
• Revisions & Management: Update drawings based on redlines and field feedback, apply company drafting standards, and organize digital project files, version tracking, and drawing logs.

The Must-Haves
• Background: High school diploma or equivalent required, with a preference for an Associate’s degree, technical certificate, or formal CAD training. An understanding of standard scenic construction components and stage layouts is essential.
• Experience: Internship or experience in live events, scenic fabrication, or theatrical production is a plus.
• Skills: Proficiency in 2D drafting using VectorWorks and AutoCAD; familiarity with SketchUp for visualizing basic scenic geometry; attention to detail; organizational skills for managing multiple projects and drawing versions.
• Bonus: Familiarity with Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop; willingness to learn and grow through training and mentorship; comfort working in a collaborative environment with changing priorities.
