Software Engineering Intern, Frontend | Tessera Labs

The Tone:
This is an internship at Tessera Labs, located in San Jose, CA or Remote. Tessera Labs is backed by Foundation Capital and led by a world-class founding team, dedicated to redefining how enterprises adopt and operationalize Artificial Intelligence. The company builds multi-agent AI systems that automate complex business workflows across major platforms like SAP, Salesforce, and Workday. This role is crucial for enhancing the user experience, as you will contribute to building and improving interfaces, from designing UI components to building interactive dashboards and visualizing data. You will gain real-world experience and directly impact users in a fast-moving startup environment focused on bringing real AI automation to the enterprise with speed and precision.

The TL;DR

What You’ll Actually Do
• Develop: Assist in developing UI components, interactive dashboards, and data visualizations to improve user experience.
• Maintain: Help maintain and improve reusable component libraries, contributing to scalable UI design patterns.
• Implement: Support the implementation of client-side state and interactions, applying state management best practices.
• Contribute: Contribute to creating intuitive user interfaces for internal tools, AI models, and complex data workflows.
• Optimize: Collaborate with the engineering team to optimize usability and performance, learning to identify and address bottlenecks.
• Initiate: Take initiative on small projects and features, receiving guidance from senior engineers.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Student currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field at an accredited U.S. institution.
• Experience: Some experience with TypeScript and React gained through class projects, personal projects, or coursework.
• Skills: Strong interest in human-computer interaction, frontend development, UI/UX, and building interactive applications; good problem-solving skills; and a willingness to learn from feedback while working in a collaborative environment.
• Bonus: Experience with frontend tools like Figma, TanStack Suite, Next.js, Tailwind, and responsive design; or a demonstrated interest in learning about real-time UIs, AI/ML integrations, or enterprise tools; previous internship or project experience in frontend development and design is also a plus.
