Web Developer Internship | WebFX
The Tone:
This is an in-person internship at WebFX, located at its riverside campus in Harrisburg, PA. WebFX is a full-service digital marketing agency that provides world-class digital marketing solutions to mid-size businesses globally, recognized for its award-winning company culture. This role offers an invaluable opportunity for current college students or recent graduates with a strong academic background to build foundational web development experience within a professional agency environment. Interns will contribute to various client projects under the direct guidance of senior mentors, learning cutting-edge tools and techniques in a supportive setting. • Mission: To actively assist senior developers with diverse client projects, programming, implementing, testing, and supporting web-based solutions primarily utilizing the LAMP stack, while also performing essential debugging and troubleshooting across open-source platforms.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Project Assistance: Collaborate closely with full-time web developers, providing direct support for various client projects and assigned tasks.
• Web Development: Program, implement, test, and actively support a diverse range of web-based projects using the comprehensive LAMP solution stack of software.
• Debugging and Problem-Solving: Methodically perform debugging and problem-solving activities across a wide variety of open-source platforms, including prominent ones like WordPress.
• Browser Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve issues related to web browser compatibility and functionality across different client projects.
• Technical Communication: Develop and practice skills in clearly explaining complex technical ideas and design decisions to both peers and management within the team.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Current college student or a recent college graduate who has either completed or is in progress of obtaining a Bachelor’s Degree (all majors are welcome). Candidates must demonstrate a strong academic history, evidenced by a GPA of 3.4 or above.
• Experience: Classroom-level coding skills are expected, along with practical knowledge of at least one open-source CMS platform, such as WordPress. No prior professional experience is required, as the internship is designed for learning.
• Skills:
• Strong verbal and written communication abilities for team collaboration and technical explanations.
• Familiarity with both object-oriented and procedural programming methodologies.
• Foundational familiarity with PHP/MySQL for database interaction and server-side scripting.
• Knowledge of Integrated Development Environments (IDEs), specifically mentioning Eclipse.
• A demonstrable eagerness to learn and be trained in new web development tools and techniques.
