Political Data Intern – Fall 2026 | WeVote

The Tone:
This is a volunteer internship at WeVote, located remotely within the US. WeVote is a nonpartisan get-out-the-vote nonprofit startup and a celebrated Fast Forward nonprofit technology grantee. This organization is a movement of over 180 passionate volunteers who are building open-source mobile technologies to touch and mobilize millions of voters on Election Day. The role is crucial for providing voters with accurate and complete information, aiming for an 8-minute voting experience through the WeVote app. WeVote is a 100% volunteer and remote organization dedicated to civic engagement.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Research: Research and update political candidate information for several U.S. states, with the ability to choose specific regions.
• Track: Track candidate declarations and ballot measures as they become available.
• Collect: Collect voter guides and endorsements from a diverse range of organizations.
• Manage: Manage and input political data into our open-source platforms.
• Verify: Spot-check political data nationwide and research any reported issues or discrepancies.
• Support: Support marketing efforts by providing relevant political data insights.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Student with an interest in civic engagement, elections, or U.S. politics.
• Experience: Willingness to commit 10 hours per week for 10-12 weeks during the Fall academic term, including a one-hour team meeting during standard business hours (M–F, 8am–5pm PT).
• Skills: Detail-oriented, inquisitive, and a proactive learner who is willing to collaborate remotely with a diverse volunteer team.
• Bonus: Alignment with WeVote’s nonpartisan mission and values, access to a device and internet (access needs can be discussed), and being located in the US during the academic term.
