AI & Automation Intern | Vimo

The Tone:
This is an internship at Vimo, with a hybrid work schedule. Vimo has transitioned from a health insurance marketplace to a leader in modernizing government IT infrastructure using its SaaS and AI technology. The company’s innovative approach, which began with health insurance shopping, now extends to reinventing how states administer vital safety net programs like Medicaid, SNAP, childcare, and unemployment insurance. This role is fundamental to Vimo’s mission of empowering agencies to serve more people faster and fundamentally transforming healthcare service delivery by developing AI-powered tools and automation solutions that enhance internal productivity and workflows.

What You’ll Actually Do
• AI Solution Development: Contribute to the development of AI-powered tools and automation solutions designed to streamline various business functions and enhance operational efficiency.
• Workflow Enhancement: Support initiatives aimed at improving internal workflows and optimizing operational processes across different departments.
• Technology Exploration: Research, evaluate, and implement emerging artificial intelligence technologies to identify potential applications and drive innovation within the company.
• Data & Process Optimization: Provide support for data analysis activities, generate insightful reports, and contribute to process optimization initiatives.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Engage and collaborate with engineering, product, and business teams on high-impact projects that directly influence company objectives.

The Must-Haves
• Background: An individual who is currently a Master’s student, a recent graduate, or an undergraduate student in their final year of study. Candidates must be pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, Information Systems, Business Analytics, or a related technical field.
• Experience: Candidates should demonstrate a keen interest in artificial intelligence, automation, and tools designed to enhance productivity. This role requires individuals who possess the ability to work independently on assigned tasks and to rapidly acquire proficiency in new technologies and platforms.
• Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills applicable to complex business challenges.
• Bonus: Practical experience with programming languages like Python, JavaScript, or SQL, or familiarity with using APIs. Exposure to AI tools, Large Language Models (LLMs), or workflow automation platforms is beneficial. Prior personal, academic, or hackathon projects showcasing technical initiative are highly valued.
