Laundry Attendant | Sonesta International Hotels

The TL;DR

• Location: In-person
• Team: This position operates within the Housekeeping Department, working alongside the Housekeeping Management Team and reporting directly to a supervisor.
• Mission: To ensure the continuous availability of clean, well-maintained linens and to uphold the highest standards of cleanliness in guest rooms and public areas, thereby contributing to an exceptional guest experience.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Linen Processing & Quality Assurance: Efficiently receive, sort, wash, and dry all soiled hotel articles according to established standards and manufacturer guidelines. Inspect all laundry and linens for damage or stains before folding and storing, promptly reporting any issues to the supervisor.
• Guest Room & Public Space Maintenance: Clean and service assigned guest rooms and public areas, including making beds, dusting, vacuuming, and sanitizing bathrooms. This may extend to kitchen areas, appliances, and dishware, ensuring all spaces meet Sonesta’s rigorous cleanliness standards.
• Operational Support & Resource Management: Monitor laundry supplies and equipment to ensure they are sufficient and in working order, reporting any needed repairs or unsafe conditions. Minimize waste of supplies and amenities across all laundry and housekeeping operations.
• Guest Experience & Team Collaboration: Deliver exceptional Sonesta Service in all guest interactions, addressing complaints and special requests to ensure complete guest satisfaction. Coordinate room service completion with supervisors and promote teamwork with other shifts and departmental management.
• Regulatory Compliance: Ensure full compliance with federal, state, and local laws concerning health and safety services within the commercial laundry facility and all cleaned areas.
The Must-Haves
• Background: This role requires an individual to operate effectively within a hotel’s housekeeping and laundry operations, ensuring high standards of cleanliness and guest satisfaction.
• Experience: Some previous experience working in a commercial laundry environment is preferred to understand the processes of sorting, washing, and drying large volumes of linens.
• Skills: Basic reading, writing, and mathematical abilities are preferred for tasks such as monitoring supplies and recording information. A preferred ability to speak, read, and write fluent English is also beneficial for communication within the team and with guests.
• Bonus: Prior experience within the extended stay segment of the hotel industry would be advantageous. Proficiency in additional languages, beyond English, is also considered a valuable asset.
