Editorial Intern, Crypto | Andreessen Horowitz

The Tone:
This is a part-time, remote internship at Andreessen Horowitz. The company, a leading venture capital firm founded in 2009, invests in seed to growth-stage technology companies across sectors like AI, crypto, and enterprise, managing over $100B in funds. This role is within the a16z crypto team, which focuses on fostering innovation and enabling the crypto ecosystem to thrive in the U.S. The intern will support the editorial content operation, a critical component of a16z crypto’s marketing efforts. This is a unique opportunity for a motivated student to gain firsthand experience with a “direct media” model, learning from established editors from traditional media and in-house content marketing, and participating in all editorial meetings.

• Mission: To assist with the production, strategy, and maintenance of multimedia and written editorial content for a16z crypto.

What You’ll Actually Do
Multimedia Content Creation: Assist in the hands-on creation and production of short-form video clips specifically for YouTube and various social media platforms. This includes identifying and time-stamping highly compelling clips, editing them, developing YouTube thumbnails, and crafting associated social copy, all in coordination with technical A/V editors.
Clipping Operation Strategy: Contribute to the expansion of the existing clipping operation, taking a strategic role in defining and refining its overall approach and ongoing strategy for content distribution.
Podcast Content Management: Take responsibility for producing, overhauling, and updating detailed podcast shownotes. Additionally, clean up, segment by topic, and time-stamp transcripts, and conduct occasional research and preparation for upcoming episodes.
Written Content Editing: Help edit various forms of content, which may involve transforming transcripts from partner interviews into publishable posts, repackaging full existing posts, or actively assisting in writing and editing new posts for diverse platforms.
Content Maintenance & Design: Update past content archives by improving site metadata, including tagging taxonomy, and performing other necessary content maintenance tasks. Also, provide assistance with basic editorial design, working alongside various designers for special series and projects.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Student with a profound interest in technology, science, or computer science, demonstrating the capacity to explore specific passion projects in depth.
• Experience: Proven experience in media outlets, through conducting personal publishing experiments, or by actively building social media profiles. The role requires a highly productive individual with strong organizational and analytical capabilities.
• Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication abilities; capacity to execute tasks effectively rather than just theorize; ability to work both independently and collaboratively under direction; adept at multitasking and meeting multiple deadlines with high attention to detail; professional, discrete, and capable of handling internal information with the utmost ethics and confidentiality, especially concerning regulated industries.
• Bonus: Some familiarity with the crypto industry; technical experience with various multimedia editing tools; previous experience in a media environment.
