Internship, Endpoint Security Engineer, Information Security (Fall 2026) | Tesla

The Tone:
This is an internship at Tesla, located in Austin, TX. Tesla’s Security Engineering team is responsible for developing and maintaining the digital and physical security systems that protect the company’s people, places, and intellectual property. This role is critical for enhancing Tesla’s security posture by implementing enterprise-grade endpoint security standards and ensuring the robust protection of all managed workstation devices. The team focuses on designing and building security systems, growing the security program, and providing support for business operations.

• Tech Stack: EDR/NGAV, IT Automation, PowerShell, Python, SCCM, Intune, Windows, macOS, Linux (Ubuntu/Red Hat/CentOS)

What You’ll Actually Do
Standard Implementation: Explore, define, and implement enterprise-grade endpoint security standards across all managed workstation devices.
Policy Review & Compliance: Review existing security policy against published frameworks (NIST/CIS) and maintain inventory and compliance reporting for the workstation fleet.
Advanced Analytics: Develop and apply machine learning/artificial intelligence to security metrics to quantify the efficacy of existing control sets.
Endpoint Policy Administration: Administer policy configurations for endpoint security controls, with an emphasis on Linux OS distributions such as Ubuntu, Red Hat, and CentOS.
Documentation & Collaboration: Document processes, workflows, and methodologies, create Standard Operating Procedures, and collaborate with IT Security and Desktop Engineering on secure enterprise architecture and Linux-based policy.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Actively pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Information Systems Management, Cybersecurity, or a related field of study, with a graduation date between December 2026 and December 2027.
• Experience: Experience in one or more of Endpoint Management, Workstation Engineering, IT Operations/Engineering, or Endpoint Security related functions.
• Skills: Proficiency with Endpoint Security technologies (e.g., EDR/NGAV, IT Automation, PowerShell, Python, SCCM, Intune); critical thinking and problem-solving mindset; and experience working with Windows, macOS, and Linux OS distributions.
• Bonus: Willingness to relocate and work on-site in Austin, TX.
