Editorial Intern, Crypto | Andreessen Horowitz

The Tone:
This is a part-time, remote internship at Andreessen Horowitz, a venture capital firm that backs entrepreneurs building the future through technology. The company invests in seed to growth-stage technology companies across various sectors, with $100B+ under management. This specific role is within a16z crypto, aiming to foster innovation and grow the crypto ecosystem, focusing on productive uses of blockchain technology. The intern will join a pioneering “direct media” operation and learn from established editors from traditional media and in-house content marketing, gaining a front-row seat to their content production and distribution across multiple platforms.

• Mission: Assist with multimedia and social media content production to amplify the firm’s editorial voice and expand its reach within the crypto ecosystem.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Multimedia Production: Assist with creating and producing short-form video clips for YouTube and social media, including identifying, time-stamping, and editing compelling clips, thumbnails, and social copy.
• Clipping Strategy: Help expand the clipping operation by strategically defining and refining the team’s approach and overall strategy.
• Podcast Management: Produce, overhaul, and update podcast shownotes, clean up, segment by topic, and time-stamp transcripts, and perform occasional research for episodes.
• Content Editing: Edit various content, such as transforming partner interview transcripts into posts, repackaging full posts, or helping write and edit new content, and update past content archives for site metadata.
• Special Projects: Help produce special series and projects, which can range from data reports to op-eds and other comprehensive media packages.

The Must-Haves
• Background: A motivated student with a strong interest in technology, science, computer science, or specific passion projects where they can go deep.
• Experience: Past experience in media outlets, conducting personal publishing experiments, or building social media profiles is required, with previous experience in a media environment preferred but not essential.
• Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, highly productive with great organizational or analytical skills, and the capacity to collaborate effectively with diverse teams while maintaining a low ego and high empathy.
• Bonus: Technical experience with various multimedia editing tools is preferred, and candidates are encouraged to share a portfolio of samples showcasing their work.
