• Mission: Serve as a vital support for Project Managers across the full project lifecycle, assisting with key activities from initial cost estimations and project scheduling through subcontractor buyout, permitting, and job site visits, contributing directly to the efficient delivery of superior construction solutions for clients.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Estimating: Assist in describing comprehensive project proposals and assigning corresponding dollar values to accurately outline potential project costs and scope, supporting initial project planning.
• Scheduling: Contribute to creating and managing detailed working timelines for subcontractors and various trades, crucial for ensuring all project phases are completed efficiently and on schedule.
• Buyout: Support the crucial subcontractor buyout process by preparing bid instructions, evaluating proposals received, and assisting in the formal awarding of subcontracts for different project components.
• Permitting: Aid in the accurate filling out and submission of necessary permit forms, detailed drawings, and associated fees to city, county, and fire departments to secure official project approval.
• Job Site Visits: Conduct regular job site visits alongside the Project Manager to closely monitor project progress, identify potential issues, and ensure all construction activities are running smoothly and according to plan.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Student pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, Architectural, or Construction Management from an accredited program, demonstrating a strong academic foundation in relevant disciplines.
• Experience: No specific prior work experience is explicitly required; however, previous construction-related internship or co-op experience is preferred for this role.
• Skills: Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication abilities for effective team and client interaction, coupled with a strong work ethic to manage responsibilities diligently.
• Bonus: Previous construction internship or co-op experience, which would provide a valuable head start in understanding project dynamics.
