Internship, Payroll (Fall 2026) | Tesla

The Tone:
This is a full-time internship at Tesla, located in Draper, UT. Tesla is an organization focused on recognizing emerging talent, driven by a commitment to nurturing future professionals through its year-round internship program. Interns are placed in positions designed for technical and personal growth, working closely with managers, mentors, and their teams. This specific internship allows the intern to experience life at Tesla by undertaking projects critical to the Payroll team’s success, specifically supporting the payroll processing for a vast employee base. The position is expected to start August 2026 and continue through the entire Fall term (through December), requiring a minimum of 12 weeks of full-time work, with potential to extend into early Spring 2027 if available. International students are required to verify their ability to work 40 hours per week through CPT before applying, as this is a strict requirement for external applicants.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Provide: Provide comprehensive payroll processing support for Tesla’s extensive workforce, including over 50,000 employees located across the US, Canada, Mexico, and India.
• Execute: Execute daily payroll duties by consistently applying and adhering to established company payroll policies and procedures.
• Deliver: Deliver a strong level of customer service, ensuring positive and effective interactions during all payroll-related tasks.
• Contribute: Contribute significantly to the Payroll team’s objectives by taking on and completing projects that are critical to its operational success.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
• Experience: Demonstrated experience working in environments characterized by a fast pace and tight deadlines, indicating an ability to manage time and tasks efficiently.
• Skills:
1. Advanced Excel skill set, essential for data management and analysis.
2. Extremely detail-oriented approach to tasks, ensuring accuracy in payroll processing.
3. Strong communication skills for effective interaction with team members and employees.
4. Solid understanding of audit procedures, tax regulations, and accounting principles relevant to payroll.
