FCA Internship Program
This internship experience is meticulously designed to foster the holistic development of student-athletes, guiding them in discerning their personal calling and career path. Interns will be introduced to and actively engaged in various facets of ministry through the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA).
Program Overview:
The FCA Internship is a structured learning and developmental ministry experience for collegiate volunteers, typically spanning a summer or a semester. While specific experiences may vary significantly by location, the overarching objective is to deepen each intern’s understanding of their individual calling to ministry through comprehensive training and hands-on experience.
Intern Status & Compensation:
FCA Interns serve as collegiate volunteers and are not considered employees. As such, interns do not receive hourly compensation or remuneration for the production of their work. However, FCA understands the commitment involved and may provide a nominal stipend to help cover living-related expenses during the course of the internship.
Key Learning Areas & Engagement (Specific experiences vary by location, but may include):
• Gaining practical insights into the daily operations and strategic vision of a faith-based non-profit organization committed to sports ministry.
• Developing leadership and communication skills through active participation in ministry initiatives.
• Learning about outreach strategies to coaches and athletes within collegiate, high school, and community settings.
• Assisting in the planning and execution of FCA events, Bible studies, team devotionals, and ministry meetings.
• Receiving mentorship and guidance from experienced FCA staff in ministry development and personal growth.
• Exploring personal spiritual gifts and how they align with vocational calling within a ministry context.
Ministerial Duties & Spiritual Expectations:
These responsibilities are central to the FCA mission and underscore the vital role this position plays within our ministry. All functions and duties are expected to be performed with a heart fully surrendered to serving God as an act of worship.
Interns are expected to:
• Affirm and adhere to FCA’s Christian Community Statement at all times, reflecting its principles in all aspects of life and ministry.
• Cultivate and maintain a vibrant personal spiritual rhythm, including daily prayer and diligent Bible study, to earnestly seek the Lord’s will for FCA and for personal guidance.
• Actively lead, conduct, and provide spiritual leadership to staff, volunteers, coaches, and athletes. This includes facilitating prayer, leading Bible studies, fostering worship, and consistently living by biblical example, thereby equipping others for service and spiritual growth.
• Commit to active participation and connection within a local church, demonstrating personal discipleship through regular worship attendance and weekly involvement.
• Maintain a high standard of conduct that consistently affirms biblical principles, in full accordance with FCA’s Christian beliefs as detailed in the Christian Community Statement, both within and outside of ministry activities.
