The Tone:
This is an unpaid, full-time remote internship for a Software Engineer, open to U.S.-based individuals. SideKix is building a mobile app designed to help entrepreneurs plan, grow, and succeed in their ventures through personalized AI guidance, human support, and a supportive community. This role is a foundational partnership, crucial for shaping the product, technology, and culture from the ground up. It offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a mission focused on expanding access to resources and empowering more people to build the future.

The TL;DR

• Team: Reports directly to our Principle Engineer.
• Mission: This person will own the architecture, development, and evolution of the platform to prepare for nationwide scaling.
• Tech Stack: React, Node.js, Firebase, Google APIs, AWS, WordPress, Figma

What You’ll Actually Do
• Product Vision: Partner directly on the product vision, contributing to strategic decisions and overseeing its execution from initial concept through development and launch.
• Platform Development: Build and scale the SideKix mobile application and its associated systems from its Minimum Viable Product (MVP) phase towards a nationwide presence.
• Technical Architecture: Architect, implement, and deploy the core technical infrastructure, utilizing a stack including React, Node.js, Firebase, Google APIs, and AWS. This also includes building and improving existing WordPress websites.
• Engagement Systems: Design and implement compelling gamification systems and other features specifically aimed at driving high user engagement and retention within the app.
• Operational Excellence: Automate app maintenance processes, manage release cycles, and ensure bug fixes are deployed efficiently for reliability. Oversee analytics, data gathering, governance, security, and compliance, as well as lead post-launch improvements based on user feedback and data.
• System Optimization: Manage performance monitoring, crash reporting, and overall security aspects. Optimize hosting and backend systems for both performance and cost-effectiveness while writing clean, maintainable, and well-documented code.

The Must-Haves
• Background: An early-career professional seeking a hands-on role in software engineering within an unpaid internship structure.
• Experience: Possesses experience in either full-stack or front-end development, coupled with practical exposure to cloud infrastructure, mobile frameworks, APIs, and payment systems.
• Skills: Capable of contributing across coding, strategic planning, and leadership functions. Skilled in architecting, deploying, and managing web and mobile application infrastructure.
• Bonus: Familiarity with Figma and analytics tools. Passionate about AI-driven personalization and human-centered design.
