Sales Account Manager

Samuel, an industry leader, is seeking a driven and results-oriented Sales Account Manager to join our dynamic team. This pivotal role involves managing and growing a designated territory, focusing on both new business development and the maintenance of existing customer relationships. The ideal candidate will be a proactive problem-solver with a strong understanding of sales processes, market dynamics, and customer relationship management, committed to achieving ambitious sales targets and contributing to the organization’s growth.

Responsibilities

  • Develop new accounts and strategically expand the customer base while diligently maintaining and nurturing existing client relationships.
  • Ensure optimal profit margins are achieved and sustained across all sales activities.
  • Consistently meet or exceed annual sales and tonnage targets as specified by leadership.
  • Prepare and submit accurate quarterly sales forecasts to support effective budgeting and strategic planning.
  • Proactively identify, explore, and capitalize on new sales opportunities within the assigned geographical territory.
  • Cultivate and strengthen relationships with key decision-makers within both the current and prospective customer portfolios.
  • Articulate and deliver compelling value-added propositions that benefit both customers and the Samuel organization.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for the assigned territory, initiating and overseeing all quotes and contracts between customers and Samuel, and addressing any issues, concerns, or new opportunities.
  • Effectively manage inventory levels and control operational expenses to maximize efficiency.
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of Samuel’s capabilities and product offerings, coupled with a thorough understanding of competitor profiles within the territory.
  • Represent Samuel at relevant trade shows and conferences within the assigned territory to foster networking and business development.
  • Commit to continuous personal development to enhance effectiveness and professional growth within the role.

Role Requirements

  • Exceptional Communication Skills: Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
  • Self-Motivation & Independence: Highly self-motivated with the proven ability to work independently, coupled with strong organizational and time management skills to consistently meet deadlines.
  • Educational Background & Industry Experience: A college degree is preferred. Prior experience within the metals industry is highly advantageous.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in AS 400, Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word. Familiarity with internet navigation and other miscellaneous computer software required by suppliers.
  • Advanced Software Skills: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Defense/Government Experience (Plus): Prior experience supporting defense and/or government customers is a significant asset.

Compensation

The base salary range for this position is $97,760 – $134,420. Final compensation will be determined based on geographic location, relevant skills and experience, and internal equity considerations.

This role is eligible to participate in the applicable Sales Incentive Plan (SIP), subject to plan terms and eligibility requirements, offering additional earning potential based on performance.
