Entry Level Construction Materials Engineer

WSP’s Construction Materials Team is expanding, and we are seeking an Entry Level Construction Materials Engineer to join our team in Charlotte, NC. We are looking for friendly, dedicated, and collaborative professionals to work on challenging projects with our Earth & Environment Team. Your Impact

  • Perform testing and special inspections related to soils, reinforced concrete, and masonry on general building sites and facilities.
  • Interpret and monitor work procedures as per project plans and specifications for compliance with project requirements.
  • Interact with client representatives (supervisors, foremen, project managers, engineers, etc.) at project sites.
  • Prepare and submit written field reports summarizing daily activities/observations in a timely manner.
  • Support project management tasks such as scheduling, reports review, budget tracking, invoicing, proposal writing, and business development.
  • Mentor early career construction material testing engineers.
  • Collaborate on tasks and support cross-functional teams.
  • Work in accordance with Company safety policies.
  • Perform analysis or calculations to check accuracy, applicability, and reasonableness of testing data.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering.
  • 0-2 years of Construction Materials Testing experience.
  • Engineer Intern (EI) or Engineer in Training (EIT) certification.
  • ACI Field Level I certification (concrete sampling and field testing).
  • Valid Driver’s License and Good driving History.
  • Reliability: Must be able to arrive at designated project sites prior to scheduled times.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Flexibility to work outside normal business hours as required.
  • Must pass physical, background check, and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company’s driving (MVR) policy.

Physical Demands

  • Physical examination required to obtain medical clearance to work.
  • Ability to stoop, kneel and to routinely lift and carry 50 pounds.
  • Clean driving record and capable of being insured for driving company vehicles.
  • Able to work in variable outside conditions, including extreme heat or cold.
