Business Development Representative

Role Overview
As a Business Development Representative, you will work under the guidance of our SVP of Sales to qualify prospects, generate appointments, and support the closing of new business sales. This role is crucial for achieving our ambitious customer acquisition and revenue growth objectives by playing a key lead generation part. You will engage with prospects across diverse industries such as Financial Services, Consumer/Retail, Automotive, Technology, and Healthcare.
The ideal candidate will be comfortable making outbound calls, collaborating with marketing partners, generating interest, qualifying prospects, and setting appointments for our research experts. While some prior lead generation experience is preferred, we are also willing to train individuals who possess the right behavioral traits for this dynamic position. Prior experience selling professional services like market research, data services, or analysis is helpful. Recent graduates are encouraged to apply!
Key Responsibilities
- Source new sales opportunities through proactive outbound cold calls and emails.
- Effectively communicate Escalent’s value proposition and generate interest in our custom research services with prospective clients.
- Document all sales activity diligently in our CRM system (Salesforce) and contribute to monthly and quarterly forecasting tasks.
- Qualify leads, share relevant marketing or research content to build interest, and secure/attend meetings (phone or in-person) for our industry-specific research experts with potential clients.
- Usher qualified opportunities through the sales process, partnering with the appropriate research/industry expert to advance the sale.
- Conduct research on new accounts, identify key players, and cultivate interest in Escalent’s offerings.
Qualifications
- Education: Must possess a BA/BS degree in business or a marketing-related field. A combination of education and relevant experience will also be considered.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 1 year of sales or lead generation experience is preferred.
- Experience using Salesforce.com or a similar CRM system is strongly preferred.
- Previous experience with telemarketing, cold-calling, lead nurturing, and setting appointments/closing sales via telephone is preferred.
- Skills & Traits:
- A strong phone presence with a knack for building rapport quickly and establishing trust, both with prospects and internal team members.
- An adaptable, professional, courteous, and motivated disposition; capable of maintaining highly professional relationships internally and externally.
- High energy and enthusiasm coupled with a strong work ethic.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, listening, and interpersonal skills.
- A high attention to detail, highly motivated, organized, and a strong desire to succeed.
- The ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
Compensation, Benefits, and Culture
- Base Salary: $50,000 – $60,000 (commensurate with experience), plus performance bonuses to reach on-target earnings.
