2026 Summer Engineering Intern | HBK Engineering, LLC
The Tone:
This is a Summer Engineering Internship at HBK Engineering, LLC, a professional engineering design firm headquartered in Chicago, IL, with a national presence. HBK specializes in comprehensive utility infrastructure services, including civil and electrical engineering, for critical infrastructure projects across all 50 states. This role offers students an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on field and design experience, tackling technically challenging and educationally stimulating tasks as an integral part of the company.

• Mission: Investigate, troubleshoot, and solve a wide variety of civil and electrical/power engineering related issues for utility infrastructure projects.
• Tech Stack: CAD-based software, Microsoft Office Suite
What You’ll Actually Do
• Project Investigation: Investigate, troubleshoot, and solve a wide variety of civil and electrical/power engineering related issues.
• Design Coordination: Work with a team lead in the coordination of detailed design phases for all aspects of civil and electrical engineering work.
• Infrastructure Design: Perform designs for utility infrastructure using standard engineering guidelines.
• Project Support: Assist in leading efforts to ensure projects are completed satisfactorily, on time, and within budget.
• Technical Reporting: Prepare reports and studies that present technical information in a clear and concise manner and meet client requirements.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Pursuit of a Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution; Early Career.
• Experience: At least one year of post-secondary education towards a Civil or Electrical Engineering degree.
• Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication, strong problem-solving and analytical abilities, organized, and able to work independently.
• Bonus: Minimum 3.0 GPA, prior internship or related consulting experience, involvement on campus or in the community, demonstrated leadership skills, experience using CAD-based software and Microsoft Office Suite, and surveying experience.
