• Program Type: Full-time, paid internship.
• Location: Hybrid role based out of our headquarters in San Ramon, CA.
• In-office Requirement: 3 days a week (Monday, Wednesday, Thursday).
• Duration: 11 weeks, with opportunities to start in early or mid-June.

The Team: NLP Team

Join the dynamic NLP Team, where we are at the forefront of delivering cutting-edge AI capabilities through natural language processing and machine learning. You’ll work side-by-side with experienced applied scientists and machine learning engineers, gaining invaluable hands-on experience with a full suite of generative AI technologies, including agentic AI frameworks, transformer-based models, and MLOps.

Responsibilities:

• Assist in the collection, preprocessing, and quality assurance of datasets to help us improve the AI Capabilities within Five9.
• Support the development and fine-tuning of NLP models/pipelines for tasks such as text classification, clustering, summarization, conversational AI, and retrieval augmented generation using tools like PyTorch and HuggingFace Transformers.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate research insights into production pipelines.
• Participate in evaluating model performance exploiting suitable methodologies and metrics, as well as contribute to iterative improvements.
• Stay current with the latest advancements in NLP and machine learning research, contributing ideas that drive innovation.

Qualifications:

• Rising college senior or above, pursuing a post-graduate degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Natural Language Processing, or a related field.
• Strong programming skills in Python with hands-on experience or a keen interest in data analysis.
• Familiarity with machine learning frameworks (PyTorch, Scikit-learn).
• Exposure to generative AI/NLP tools, including transformer-based models and Hugging Face Transformers.
• Experience working with LLM APIs (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic).
• Demonstrated problem-solving skills and a passion for exploring and applying new technologies in AI.

This is a full-time, paid internship based out of our headquarters in San Ramon, CA. The program runs 11 weeks with the opportunity to start in early or mid-June. This role is hybrid, requiring 3 days a week (Monday, Wednesday, Thursday) in the office.

The hourly compensation for this role is:

$25—$25 USD
