UX Research Intern | Sleeper

The Tone:
This is a UX Research Intern position at Sleeper, available either hybrid with 2 days in the SF Bay Area or remotely from California, New York City, or PST hours with a willingness to relocate full-time. Sleeper is building the leading platform to connect friends over sports, offering features like scores, games, chat, and memes to over 10 million fans worldwide. This role is crucial for understanding user engagement and competitive landscapes, directly contributing to the creation of loved experiences for sports fans by supporting research projects and synthesizing key findings.

The TL;DR

• Team: Small cohort of interns, collaborating closely with mentors and senior team members across design, engineering, and product, in a company that values making a big impact within a small, focused team.
• Mission: To support essential user research projects, monitor app engagement, and analyze competitor activities, directly contributing to the design and development of user-loved features for a global sports fan base.
• Tech Stack: Internal dashboards, remote testing tools, surveys, analytics dashboards

What You’ll Actually Do
• Support: Support research projects by assisting in data collection and preliminary synthesis of findings for the team.
• Monitor: Monitor user engagement metrics across the app using internal dashboards to track key performance indicators.
• Conduct: Conduct competitor benchmarking and ongoing monitoring of updates to identify market trends and best practices.
• Assist: Assist in setting up and actively participating in UX quality assurance reviews to ensure high-quality user experiences.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Pursuing an academic degree in a related field with an anticipated graduation date in 2025, or a recent graduate with one year or less of professional experience. Candidates must demonstrate a solid understanding of user research fundamentals and possess a strong attention to detail.
• Experience: Collaborating on multiple projects simultaneously. Prior experience running usability tests for mobile applications, whether in-person or remote, is considered a significant advantage.
• Skills: Strong analytical abilities for monitoring app engagement metrics and synthesizing research findings. Proficiency in utilizing tools for remote testing, conducting surveys, or navigating analytics dashboards. A genuine curiosity for learning, coupled with a deep interest in sports, especially football or basketball, is highly valued.
• Bonus: A degree specializing in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), information sciences, statistics, data analytics, or human-centered design. Direct experience with fantasy sports, daily fantasy, or sports betting is also a strong plus.
