Job Description

Position Summary

Under general supervision, the Social Media Coordinator assists in the execution of the university partner’s social media strategy. This role involves monitoring the university partner’s social media presence across assigned platforms and managing official university social media properties, with a primary focus on safeguarding the university partner’s online reputation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the organization and management of various university-owned social media communities.
  • Assist with writing, editing, and inputting messaging and content to various profiles and applications; monitors and tracks discussions, etc.
  • Engage with the assigned communities to keep the university partner trending in social media sites; take action to protect the university partner image when negative discussions/conversations begin to arise.
  • Adjust posts (imagery and messaging) to align with audience expectations while focusing on community management and the removal of all content deemed offensive.
  • Monitor online conversations about the University—reports on trends and widespread issues to social media management for recommendations on any actions that need to be taken.
  • Manage and monitor event pages, announcements, messages, reviews, and conversations.
  • Stimulate follower interaction, discussion, and engagement.
  • Track influencers and trending topics from online conversations about the university and report findings in regular social media team meetings so appropriate recommendations for action can be taken.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Tools and Technologies

Proficiency is required with:

  • Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Outlook, Project, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Social Media Channels: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, YouTube, Pinterest, LinkedIn, etc.
  • Social Media Management Tools: HootSuite, Talkwalker, TweetDeck, and similar applications.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position holds no supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Public Relations, or Communications.
  • Experience: Minimum of 1 year of related professional work experience.
  • Preferred Experience: Demonstrated exposure to or experience managing social media for a brand or organization.
  • Pre-employment Requirement: Must pass a pre-employment background investigation.
