What You’ll Actually Do
• Train: Successfully complete a rigorous 23-week POST-certified Police Academy program.
• Learn: Acquire comprehensive knowledge of the criminal justice system, various laws, and essential procedures.
• Develop: Master effective law enforcement techniques and critical first aid skills.
• Maintain: Achieve and sustain required physical fitness standards throughout the training.
• Transition: Enter the department’s field training program and serve in the Patrol Division upon academy completion.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Early Career level, requiring a high school diploma, GED, California High School Proficiency Examination, or a two-year, four-year, or advanced degree from an accredited college or university.
• Experience: No prior experience required.
• Skills: Must be 21 years of age at the time of application, legally authorized to work in the United States, possess a valid California driver’s license or ability to obtain one at hire, ability to read and speak English, maintain good moral character with no felony convictions, and meet California POST medical, vision, and psychological standards.
