Sales Representative | Sleep Number

The Tone:
This is a retail sales role at Sleep Number, located across over 650 stores nationwide. Sleep Number is a recognized sleep wellness technology leader with nearly four decades of experience, having improved over 15 million lives with their smart beds. The company operates a vertically integrated business model, managing the process from start to finish, including sales in its numerous stores. In this role, you will directly contribute to the company’s purpose of enhancing societal health and wellbeing through higher quality sleep. You will personalize sleep experiences for customers, making a significant impact by helping them thrive one restful night at a time.

• Pay: Guaranteed hourly rate of $16/hour, along with uncapped commission and bonus potential; most team members earn $49,000–$57,000 annually.
• Mission: Personalize sleep experiences for customers by understanding their needs and matching them with Sleep Number products.
• Tech Stack: CRM systems, point-of-sale technology, interactive sales tools (iPads, apps)

What You’ll Actually Do
• Customer Needs: Discover each customer’s unique sleep needs and align them with suitable Sleep Number products.
• Sales Presentation: Clearly explain product benefits and current promotions, providing personalized experiences to drive satisfaction and exceed sales goals.
• Relationship Management: Proactively nurture prospective customers through outbound calls, focusing on building relationships for repeat and new business.
• Showroom Excellence: Collaborate with the team to maintain a polished showroom and deliver an exceptional in-store experience.
• Professional Growth: Engage in sales practice training and coaching sessions to continuously sharpen your professional skills.

The Must-Haves
• Background: High school diploma or equivalent; Early career professional in a customer-facing environment.
• Experience: 1–2 years of experience in retail, customer service, or other roles involving direct customer interaction.
• Skills: Strong communication abilities to adapt to diverse customer needs; Goal-oriented and customer-focused mindset with a drive to exceed sales targets; Ability to work a flexible retail schedule, including evenings and weekends.
• Bonus: Experience in consultative or relationship-based sales, ideally in a commission-driven environment; Comfort using CRM systems, point-of-sale technology, and interactive sales tools (e.g., iPads, apps); Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while collaborating effectively with a team; An energetic, proactive, and customer-focused approach; A collaborative team player who welcomes feedback and coaching; A tech-savvy mindset, comfortable with new technologies.
