The Tone:
This is a full-time role at SAIC, located in Ashburn, VA, with an initial on-site requirement for the first year. SAIC is a premier technology integrator providing full life cycle services and solutions in technical, engineering, intelligence, and enterprise information technology markets. What You’ll Actually Do
• Design: Design, implement, and unit test REST microservices using Java, Spring, and JUnit.
• Develop: Develop web applications with Angular that communicate effectively with backend microservices.
• Query: Write complex SQL queries and perform essential data modeling for application functionality.
• Collaborate: Work collaboratively and contribute effectively within a large, Agile development team environment.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related engineering field, suited for an early career professional.
• Experience: At least 1 year of Java J2EE/JEE design and software development experience, including designing, developing, and documenting large-scale enterprise software systems.
• Skills: Strong foundational knowledge of Java, Spring Boot, Spring REST/SOAP web services, Angular, React, HTML/Javascript/CSS, XML/JSON, SQL, JPA/Hibernate, and Java web application development.
• Bonus: A Master’s degree in computer science, recent course projects or internships showcasing backend development skills, experience with Spring WebFlux and R2DBC, familiarity with microservices architecture, experience with JMS and/or Kafka, familiarity with AWS, comfort using Eclipse and Visual Studio Code, a strong initiative to take high-level requirements to completion, and excellent verbal/written communication and problem-solving skills.
