The Tone:
This is a 12-week summer internship at Sazerac Company, located in Owensboro, KY. Sazerac is an independent, American family-owned company known for producing and marketing award-winning bourbons, whiskeys, and other popular spirits. This Safety Intern role is crucial for supporting essential Safety and Environmental initiatives across the company’s bottling, distilling, and distribution operations, directly contributing to productivity and company growth within the distilled spirits industry.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Support: Support all Safety and Environmental initiatives within bottling, distilling, and distribution operations, gaining a comprehensive understanding of the distilled spirits industry.
• Develop: Develop and write standards for assigned health and safety processes, contributing to the standardization and improvement of operational procedures.
• Execute: Complete and lead hands-on health and safety process improvement projects in assigned areas, including bottling, processing, distribution, and maintenance, which directly impact company productivity.
• Collaborate: Work closely with a mentor to build project plans and set goals, while also collaborating with top operational talent and the leadership team to gain a deep understanding of various departments and career paths.
• Present: Deliver an end-of-summer project presentation to showcase project outcomes, key learnings, and contributions made during the internship program.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Early Career professional currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Health, Industrial Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field, with an expected graduation between December 2026 and May 2028 and a minimum 3.0 GPA. Willingness to relocate for the duration of the program is required.
• Experience: No specific prior work experience is required; this is a 12-week summer internship designed to provide hands-on experience in the distilled spirits industry.
• Skills: Strong analytical skills, technical aptitude, and an innovative, solution-oriented mindset. Effective communication skills, high emotional intelligence, and a collaborative team player approach are also essential.
