What We Look For In a Math 3 Tutor

We are seeking tutors who demonstrate:

• Advanced Subject Mastery: Deep knowledge of polynomial and rational functions, logarithmic and exponential modeling, trigonometric functions and identities, statistics including normal distributions and inference, and geometric modeling with volume and cross-sections. You should be able to explain complex topics like polynomial division, unit circle values, and margin of error, while effectively preparing students for precalculus, AP courses, and college mathematics placement.
• Conceptual Teaching & Problem-Solving: Skill at breaking down challenging concepts such as polynomial long division, logarithmic equation solving, and trigonometric identity verification. You will guide students through modeling periodic phenomena, analyzing rational function behavior, performing statistical inference with confidence intervals, and solving geometric design problems. We emphasize mathematical modeling and connecting advanced functions to real-world applications in biology, physics, and financial analysis.
• Curriculum Awareness & Adaptive Instruction: Familiarity with Integrated Math 3 curricula and Common Core standards, as well as common student challenges like graphing rational functions, understanding logarithmic scales, and applying the normal distribution. You must be able to adapt instruction using graphing technology, data analysis projects, and cumulative review strategies to support students preparing for AP Mathematics, SAT, or college-level coursework.
• Effective Teaching Methods:
  • Ability to identify concepts students commonly struggle with, explain material using multiple approaches, and adapt instruction to meet individual learning needs and styles.
  • Strong communication skills and a friendly, engaging teaching style.
  • Ability to adapt to different learning styles and student needs.
