Strategic Student Program (SSP) – Engineering Software Intern, Aerodynamics CFD | Siemens Industry Software Inc.
The Tone:
This is a Strategic Student Program internship at Siemens Industry Software Inc., located in a fully remote environment. Siemens Industry Software is a leading global software company dedicated to computer-aided design, 3D modeling, and simulation, helping manufacturers design better products, faster. This role is crucial as the intern will apply their education to solve real-world aerodynamics problems and contribute to the validation and regression testing of the FlightStream product. The program aims to empower students to become future leaders within the company.

• Mission: Automate validation and regression testing for the FlightStream panel method flow solver to ensure product quality and performance.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Identify: Help identify gaps in the current FlightStream regression testing suite.
• Expand: Expand the current suite of regression tests to fully capture FlightStream functionality.
• Automate: Automate validation cases to quickly evaluate upgrades to FlightStream solvers against wind tunnel experiments and other literature data.
• Assist: Assist with DevOps-related tasks where needed.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently enrolled as a university student (undergraduate or graduate) in their Sophomore year or above, pursuing a bachelor’s or graduate degree in mechanical, aerospace, or marine engineering. Coursework in aerodynamics, fluid mechanics, and/or flight dynamics is required.
• Experience: Demonstrated ability to work unsupervised and learn new skills and concepts independently.
• Skills: Scripting proficiency in Python, and a minimum 3.0 GPA.
• Bonus: Experience using FlightStream, experience with pytest or similar testing frameworks, experience analyzing technical reports and extracting relevant data, and experience creating CAD models from technical drawings.
