Business Systems Analyst Internship | First American

The Tone:
This is an internship at First American, with opportunities available for students based near their Southern California headquarters or anywhere in the continental USA. First American is working to modernize the real estate title and closing process through technology within the real estate market. This role offers university students a hands-on opportunity to contribute to this transformation, gain valuable industry experience, and develop skills in business systems analysis within a company recognized for its inclusive, people-first culture.

The TL;DR

• Location: Southern California headquarters (or remote within continental USA)
• Pay: $40.00–$45.00 hourly
• Mission: This intern will contribute to the analysis and understanding of First American’s technology portfolio and business operations, helping leaders make informed decisions.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Collect Data: Gather data components specifically related to First American technology and business operations while concurrently learning about the business environment.
• Collaborate: Partner with product and technical stakeholders to elicit and gather essential information concerning the business components and financial aspects of the technology portfolio.
• Analyze Portfolio: Systematically review, analyze, and assess the company’s current technical portfolio.
• Distill Information: Synthesize complex information to help draw conclusions that will support leaders and key stakeholders in making strategic decisions.
• Create Artifacts: Assist in the creation of various architecture artifacts, including business capability maps, process diagrams, and relational models.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree at an accredited university.
• Experience: Prior exposure to best practices through hackathons, design challenges, university projects, or previous internships is required. Candidates must be available for a full-time, 8-10 week internship starting in early June 2026 and concluding in August or September 2026.
• Skills: Demonstrated ability in data collection and analytical thinking; proficiency in stakeholder collaboration and information synthesis; capable of assisting with the creation of architectural artifacts like business capability maps, process diagrams, and relational models.
• Bonus: A preferred major in business, technology, or a related field; a desire to approach problems with an AI-first mindset and a commitment to growth in that area.
