CAD Detailer – Entry Level | Seating Solutions

The Tone:
This is an entry-level position at Seating Solutions, part of InProduction. InProduction is the largest provider of temporary seating, staging, structures, and scenic production for the United States events industry. This role is central to the company’s sustained growth, helping to create and design solutions for high-profile nationwide events. The CAD Detailer provides accurate drawings for sales staff, customers, building officials, and field technicians.

• Mission: Create and design solutions for high-profile nationwide events by providing accurate drawings for sales, customers, building officials, and field technicians.
• Tech Stack: VectorWorks, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Microsoft Office, file sharing systems.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Draft clear, accurate 2D drawings for standard scenic flats, steps, decks, deck plugs, pipe-and-base layouts, and basic stage layout plans using VectorWorks, AutoCAD, and SketchUp.
• Support Project Managers and Production Designers by converting their sketches, notes, or existing drawings into comprehensive drafting packages.
• Create basic 3D models of simple scenic elements from 2D drawings using SketchUp, VectorWorks, or AutoCAD to aid team visualization and coordination.
• Prepare drawing sets for fabrication and onsite installation, coordinating with fabrication teams to ensure accuracy, and applying company drafting standards for consistency.
• Make necessary drawing updates based on redlines and field feedback, while also organizing and maintaining digital project files, version tracking, and drawing logs.

The Must-Haves
• Background: High school diploma or equivalent required, with a preference for an Associate’s degree, technical certificate, or formal CAD training.
• Experience: Internship or prior experience in live events, scenic fabrication, or theatrical production is a plus for this entry-level role.
• Skills: Proficiency in 2D drafting using VectorWorks and AutoCAD, including the ability to apply company drafting standards and templates; Familiarity with SketchUp for visualizing basic scenic geometry and creating simple 3D models; A clear understanding of standard scenic construction components and stage layouts; Strong attention to detail, coupled with the ability to interpret shop standards and effectively follow both written and verbal instructions; Developed organizational skills for efficiently managing multiple projects, tracking drawing versions, and maintaining digital project files.
• Bonus: Familiarity with Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop; A willingness to learn and grow through training and mentorship; Availability for occasional overtime or site visits may be required.
