What We Look For In a OAR Tutor

Advanced Test Mastery: Deep knowledge of OAR Officer Aptitude Rating examination content covering math skills, reading comprehension, and mechanical comprehension for Navy officer candidate selection. Ability to explain algebraic problem-solving, reading passage analysis, and basic physics and mechanical principles while preparing candidates for competitive OAR scores qualifying for Navy OCS and other officer programs.

Strategic Test-Taking & Problem-Solving: Skilled at teaching mathematical reasoning, reading comprehension strategies, and mechanical reasoning for OAR examination. Guides students through solving algebra and geometry problems, analyzing reading passages for main ideas and inferences, and understanding fundamental mechanical principles including levers, gears, and fluid dynamics. Emphasizes time management and targeting composite scores needed for specific Navy officer programs.

Curriculum Awareness & Adaptive Instruction: Familiar with OAR examination content and common challenges such as math skills gaps, mechanical reasoning without engineering background, and reading comprehension speed. Adapts instruction using OAR practice tests, math review materials, and mechanical comprehension guides to support Navy officer candidates preparing for competitive OAR scores for OCS, aviation, or nuclear program selection.

Effective Teaching Methods: Ability to identify concepts students commonly struggle with, explain material using multiple approaches, and adapt instruction to meet individual learning needs and styles.
